The Waverly Press is a fine art imprint by editor, art director and publisher Dagon James. Dagon is the founder and publisher of Lid Magazine (2004-2014). After closing Lid he founded The Waverly Press with the mission of bridging pop culture and fine art subjects through limited edition prints and publications. Dagon also edits hard cover books with some of his titles including Barry Feinsten: Unseen McQueen with Dave Brolan, Woodstock with Baron Wolman, Michael Lang & Carlos Santana, Billy Name: The Silver Age, Black & White Photographs from Andy Warhol’s Factory with John Cale & Glenn O’Brien, Brigid Berlin: Polaroids with Vincent Fremont, John Waters, Bob Colacello & Anastasia Rygle, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street band: 1975 with Tony Nourmand & Barbara Pyle, Michael Zagaris: Total Excess with David Talbot and Peter Frampton and Joe Eula: Master of 20th Century Fashion Illustration with Melisa Gosnell & Cathy Horyn. Some of his forthcoming titles for 2017 include Cary leibowitz: Museum Show, Screen Tests: A Diary, 50th Anniversary Edition by Gerard Malanga and Andy Warhol and Film Notebooks by Gerard Malanga. Dagon has also curated numerous exhibitions including two at MILK gallery in New York City, Michael Zagaris: Total Excess (Nov 17 - Dec 18, 2016) and Billy Name: The Silver Age (Nov 12 - Dec 7, 2014) and the forthcoming Bob Dylan career overview at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco. Dagon has worked with countless artists on a wide range of projects including Sam Haskins, Klaus Voormann, Ross Halfin, Marc Jacobs, Mick Rock, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Gered Mankowitz, Olivia Harrison/George Harrison Estate, Kate Simon, Dustin Pittman, Michael Cooper Estate and Daido Moriyama. Dagon has also worked with museums, auction houses and galleries worldwide. In addition to his ongoing publishing projects Dagon currently manages the estate for photographer Billy Name.
